Camping and Canoeing

Derek and I spent the weekend in Manning Park, doing some hiking and canoeing.

Can't start the day without blueberry pancakes!

This little squirrel wasn't too happy about our presence in HIS campground.

The ground squirrels at Lightning Lake were considerably better hosts.

We rented a canoe and spent the day working our way up the Lightning Lake Chain.

Calm water.

Canoeing allows you to get close to the waterfowl.

While portaging between lakes I came across these two bees making friends (or enemies?) on the same flowers.
The next day we did some hiking around the park. There are hundreds of kilometres of trails to explore, with a diversity of terrians.

We caught a couple of glimpses of this pika and his friends hiding in the rocks.

At the parking lot I found this bee stumbling around. He must have been hit by a car. I tried to help him out by moving him off the pavement but he didn't make it...
